Puerto del Carmen Holidays

Puerto del Carmen is famous as a resort as well as a fishing village also. It is situated on the southern coast of Lanzarote, Spain. The nearest airport is Arrecife airport, which is just 10 minute drive from Puerto del Carmen. In the beginning it was just a small fishing village but now it is a famous resort of Spain. Puerto del Carmen is also famous for its picturesque harbor, which is situated at the southern end of the resort.

Here you will find a fine beach of 5 km long with pale sand. Water sports facility is available for scuba diving and snorkeling. Other than this you can also enjoy the riding courtesy of the Rancho Texas riding stables in Puerto del Carmen and at Lanzorate a Caballo at Yaiza. It is a best place for the people who want energetic sports activities. Swimming, cycling and running activities are always performed. During the May/June month Lanzarote IronMan triathlon held, which is a major international athletics event. It starts and ends on the Avenida de Las Playas. Golf course is also available.

Apart from these entire one can go for shopping also. The Biosfera shopping complex is very famous here for its Duty free local Arts and Crafts, Luxury designer shoes and clothes and electronics equipment.

Many festivals are also celebrated. In the end of February Carnaval takes place which attracts lots of tourist. In the end July Fiesta de Carmen is celebrated in the honor of patron saint of Puerto del Carmen. In this occasion specially decorated fishing boats are sailing across the sea.
